After two trips to Egypt, I’ve been lucky enough to see a lot of the country.

Below, you’ll find my tips on where to go and how to plan your own trip — plus a few stories from Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, and Hurghada that share what my experience was like. There are a few frustrations, it’s true, but it’s totally worth it for the chance to see pyramids and temples from ancient Egyptian history. On top of that, the city of Cairo is a bewildering hive of activity that I loved and hated at the same time. On the opposite end of the spectrum, the Red Sea destination of Hurghada is a pleasant resort break if you need a relaxing vacation or want to spend your days scuba diving.
